What is a "Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)"?The designation "Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)" refers to individuals who are working towards achieving full registration as psychotherapists. They hold this title while they gather the necessary supervised clinical experience and prepare for the entry-to-practice examination.
-
Are therapy sessions confidential?Psychotherapists who are registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) are required to adhere to professional ethical standards and legal responsibilities to safeguard client confidentiality. Nonetheless, there are specific circumstances under which a therapist may be compelled to disclose confidential information. These situations include the risk of immediate harm to oneself or others, the presence of a vulnerable person in peril, and instances where a therapist is summoned by a court. A confidentiality agreement will be provided to you, and your therapist will discuss the details of confidentiality during your first session.
-
How does insurance work?We recommend that you reach out to your insurance provider to clarify which types of licenses are included in your coverage. For instance, do your benefits extend to a registered psychotherapist? If your coverage is limited to a "Psychologist," our services will not be eligible for reimbursement. It is the client's responsibility to verify their insurance plan to confirm coverage, as each plan varies, even among different insurance companies. While we do not offer direct billing, we will provide you with a receipt after your session, which you can submit for reimbursement.
-
How does tax work?Make sure to retain your receipts for tax purposes (for further details, refer to the Government of Canada website). We do not offer direct billing. After you make a payment, your receipt will be sent to you via email.
